Grades & Feedback
May 15th, 2007 by Dr. Youngblood
All of the grades and feedback have been placed in your individual accounts on chaos.
I spent a lot of time evaluating your games, individual contributions, and class performance as well as listening to what others (industry folk) had to say. First, thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to the class. However, some of you worked harder instead of smarter and were set back in a few areas. There were clear distinctions in the grade levels where A’s were clearly A’s, B’s were B’s, and so forth. On a few occassions students chose not to fully participate, study for quizzes, or ignore assignments which cost them in the end—there is just no excuse for ignoring assignments especially when I give a large number of points for just trying. If you took a “0″ on any assignment because you just blew it off then there is no negotiation. In all, I think that the grades were an accurate and good reflection of performance—especially from an Executive Producer standpoint.
I really enjoyed this class and all of you!
If you feel that I have been unfair and have given you a grade you did not deserve, please make an appointment to talk with me about it—I will do my best to see that you get what you deserve.
In the end, remember that a game is about the GAME PLAY and not the TECHNOLOGY! Listen to the feedback people give you in the development process. Be sure to mind the importance of FEEDBACK and CONTEXT in a game, and always pay attention to the details!
Good luck!
